Children

I am a child psychotherapist working with children from 4 years old. I use play and observation to help children explore their feelings and understand their behaviours. Difficulties and worrying thoughts can be identified by looking beneath the surface of external behaviours and observing the unconscious patterns of a child's internal world.  Once these underlying issues have been considered, they can be explored, leading to more helpful ways of relating and expressing feelings.

We all want our children to be happy and thrive and it can be painful for us if they are experiencing any form of difficulty: withdrawal, anguish, anxiety or emotional outbursts. It can be confusing for a child to understand their feelings and behaviour and communicate effectively.

Children may struggle for many reasons, including anxiety, insecure attachments, trauma, special educational needs, parental separation or bereavement. In our sessions together we explore and name difficult feelings, helping to make sense of experiences. This enables a child to feel really seen and known and helps to mitigate anxieties, leading to more positive and healthy behaviours and greater wellbeing.
